‘Kaṭṭe’, a platform under a tree, congenial for social interactions, pause or just a reflective moment, is a ubiquitous typology across the length and breadth of India, variously known as Chaupal, Kattai, Katte. The Kaṭṭe Project seeks to re-interpret this typology in the urban context of Bangalore, retaining the principal elements – platform and the tree.
